Hayward Pool Heat Pump Installation

AirPro Heating & Cooling recently completed a pool heating upgrade by replacing an older gas pool heater with a new Hayward pool heat pump.
The original gas heater was located inside the pool equipment room alongside the existing filter, pump and plumbing. After removing the old heater, the area was opened up and the remaining pool equipment could be inspected before the new system was connected.
Replacing the Existing Gas Pool Heater
The homeowner chose to move from gas pool heating to an electric pool heat pump. Unlike a gas heater that produces heat through combustion, a pool heat pump transfers heat from the outdoor air into the pool water.
Pool heat pumps can be a practical option for homeowners who want consistent pool heating and plan to maintain the water temperature over longer periods during the swimming season.
Before installing a new pool heating system, several factors should be considered, including:

Electrical requirements
Pool size and desired temperature
Existing water-flow and plumbing configuration
Airflow clearance around the equipment

New Hayward Pool Heat Pump Installation
The new Hayward pool heat pump was installed outdoors beside the home, providing the open airflow required for proper operation. The unit was placed on a solid, level base and connected to the existing pool circulation system.
The installation included new plumbing connections between the pool equipment and the heat pump. The completed setup allows pool water to circulate through the heat pump, where heat is transferred into the water before it returns to the pool.
The outdoor location also freed up space inside the original equipment room after the old gas heater and venting were removed.
Gas Pool Heater or Pool Heat Pump?
Both systems can be suitable depending on how the pool is used.
Gas pool heaters generally provide faster temperature increases and may be preferred when a pool is heated only occasionally. Pool heat pumps typically warm the water more gradually and are often suited to homeowners who want to maintain a steady pool temperature throughout the season.
The right choice depends on the pool, property, utility availability and the homeowner’s heating expectations.
