AirPro Heating & Cooling recently completed a pool heater replacement in Hamilton. The existing pool heater was removed and replaced with a new Hayward gas pool heater, along with important venting and plumbing upgrades.
Why the Old Pool Heater Needed Replacement
The existing pool system had a chlorinator installed downstream of the pool heater, but there was no check valve between the heater and chlorinator.
When the circulation pump stops, highly concentrated chlorinated water may move backward toward the heater. Over time, exposure to concentrated pool chemicals can contribute to corrosion and premature damage to the heat exchanger.
A damaged or leaking heat exchanger can affect heater performance and may make replacement more practical than repairing an older unit.
New Hayward Pool Heater Installation
For this project, AirPro installed a new Hayward gas pool heater and completed the necessary system connections.
The installation included:
Removal of the existing pool heater
Installation of the new Hayward pool heater
New manufacturer-compatible vent kit
New metal vent connection
Installation of a check valve between the heater and chlorinator
Plumbing and gas connections
Startup and operational testing
The check valve helps prevent concentrated chlorinated water from flowing backward from the chlorinator toward the new heater when the circulation pump is off.
Proper Venting and Equipment Protection
The new vent kit and vent were installed to support proper exhaust operation for the indoor pool heater installation. The plumbing arrangement was also updated to provide additional protection for the new heat exchanger.
